Information on refund of fees
We would like to inform you that Hungary’s supreme court, the Curia has reviewed the National Bank of Hungary’s ruling no. H-FH-I-B-35/2014 regarding the transfer of the transaction duty and ordered Raiffeisen Bank to reimburse the surplus fee resulting from the fee increase on certain free transactions.
What fees are refunded and to whom?
The refund concerns Raiffeisen Bank’s retail customers and VIP private banking clients who held a certain account package between 1 January 2013 and 15 March 2014 and performed certain transactions during that period. We sent a separate information letter by 16.08.2019 to our existing and former customers who are entitled to the refund. Former customers who no longer have an active bank relationship with Raiffeisen Bank will be notified on the refund by mail, and our existing customers on their bank statement or a letter of notification.
I am currently a customer of Raiffeisen Bank, when and how do I get my refund?
Refunds to existing customers will be automatically credited between 16 and 23 August, 2019, Customers will not need to take any action regarding the refund.
I am no longer a customer of Raiffeisen Bank, when and how do I get my refund?
Former customers who no longer have an active bank relationship with Raiffeisen Bank will receive the refund in the ways described in the letter of notification (through a dedicated free telephone customer service, free domestic forint transfer, or cashier). The existence of the letter of notification is essential for the telephone administration.
If selecting cashier payment, please note that there may be a longer waiting time depending on the current turnover of the branches - we recommend that you contact us by telephone if the amount of the refund does not exceed HUF 10,000. We recommend booking an appointment at a branch on the www.raiffeisen.hu website. You can have the refund transferred to any domestic bank account for five years from the fifth day from the posting of the letter of notification or you can pick it up in cash.
If you want to authorize a third person to withdraw or transfer the amount instead of you, download the authorisation form from here.
How much can I expect?
The amount of the refund depends on the number of the transactions performed during the above-mentioned period and on the amount of these transactions. In the vast majority of cases, this amounts to a few hundred forints. The exact amount is indicated in the letter of notification.
Who should I contact if I have further questions?
Our colleagues will be waiting for your call on banking days between 8am and 4pm at the customer service phone number given in the notification letter or at any Raiffeisen bank branch during business hours.
